Producer Jeff Canin of Hatchling Productions has been producing
documentaries for television and educational and training videos since 1992.
In conjunction with his partner Cathy Henkel, Jeff produced WALKING THROUGH
A MINEFIELD for SBS television in 1999 and the award-winning LOSING LAYLA for
ABC TV. It won the 2001 ATOM award for Best Documentary, was highly commended
in the Dendy Awards and was nominated for an AFI (Australian Film Institute)
award. Jeff’s first foray into digital media production was COASTAL DREAMING:
THE CASUARINA BEACH STORY, a DVD produced in 2003.
Writer Cathy Henkel
Cathy has worked as a producer, writer and director of documentaries,
educational and information videos since 1988. Cathy played a key role, working
alongside Kerry and Jeff, in planning the contents of this web site.
Web director/writer Kerry Sunderland
A professional writer and print editor since 1990, Kerry is also
one of Australia's most experienced new media content producers, having worked
in the area since 1993. She has conceived, developed, produced and published
content on numerous web sites and CD ROMs. She has also produced cross-media
programs that utilise film and print in addition to digital platforms. Kerry
met Cathy Henkel in 2001 while producing the web site for the 2003 Australian
Documentary Conference and then teamed up with Hatchling Productions in 2003
to help produce COASTAL DREAMING: THE CASUARINA BEACH STORY DVD. She worked
with Hatchling Productions to get funding for LET’S FACE IT, then oversaw
interface design, on-screen text and development. Kerry is on the board of Northern
Rivers Screenworks and is developing several new cross-platform documentary
projects, including GOON BUT NOT FORGOTTEN (about Spike Milligan) with Hatchling
Productions.
Web developer Zubin Henner
Zubin is an experienced web developer and sound engineer. Recent
credits include: sound design on SOAR (2003), which won the People’s Choice
Award at Flickerfest 2004; and Flash developer for Powderfinger’s ON MY
MIND single CD-ROM and web site intro (2003). Before Zubin worked on LET’S
FACE IT, he developed numerous database-driven content management systems and
custom-made web applications.
Web art director Emma Sharman
A graphic designer since 1994, Emma worked for several advertising
agencies in Sydney before starting her own business, Red Ink Design, five years
ago. She is experienced in all aspects of print media from concepts to finished
art, advertising and marketing and designing for the web. She lives and works
from Bangalow, Northern NSW.
Photographer/production assistant Tony Bensusan
Tony photographed all South African-based characters for the
home page Flash movie and generally assisted with production of the web site
in South Africa.
